When I first tried on this dress from Thurley
, admittedly the first thing I noticed was how big and boxy I looked. The shoulder pads, although not even that exaggerated, made my frame look wide, and the looseness of it all made me feel like it worked better as a jacket. But I had loved the frayed edges too much to have it returned, and so I adjusted my posture, stood straighter and even got a tailor to try cinching the waist. It started to work, because it fitted just as well with a basic tee, a newsboy cap and some knee-high boots. And then when I took Mulberry’s Small New Bayswater
into my arms, it delivered the unexpected, finishing touch.
Here I’m sporting the newly redesigned iconic bag in Dune by Mulberry’s Creative Director, Johnny Coca, that now comes in a sleeker, lighter size with a shoulder strap for hands-free versatility. It is easily smaller than the Bayswater with Strap but still roomy enough for a camera, an iPad and some random bits and bobs (e.g. portable charger, USB micro phone fan and whatnots). Really, you could say it functions perfectly as an everyday bag.
Mulberry’s Small New Bayswater is currently available in fun hues like Porcelain Blue, Fiery Red and Macaroon Pink. Well, what do you think? Share with me in the comments!
