blue for you

How I miss blue skies and the vast outback – and The Simpsons-like clouds that can be found down under. But here I am in Singapore for a week before heading off to London next, so thought I’d touch base on this dress (worn in this post as a skirt, but worn here as a dress) since I got a bunch of questions about it! I really do love it because of its versatility, as you can tell, and that it literally slips on and off in seconds. Perfect for effortless days when you have to grab ‘n go!

Granted, I have been looking at way too many Game of Thrones memes and giggling in the late hours of the night (sometimes even smiling to myself in public) for my recent wardrobe choices have started to resemble Westerosi couture. I mean, it has even translated to my social captions i.e. showing Jon Snow how to bend the knee and pretending to be a wildling-white walker. And when I threw on this gorgeous, embroidered dress, I remember asking myself, “Is this what I would wear to take over the Iron Throne?” Perhaps. To top it off, when you take a closer look, you’ll realise the dress is beaded and embellished – a touch of regal-like finery, if you will. Surely red hair also seems to be key (think Cersei, Sansa and Melisandre) so shooting during the golden hour made my pink mane slightly warmer. Lastly, and very unfortunately, I realised I didn’t have a cape but piling on accessories and a fur stole seemed to fare well.

So, red lippie or not, I find the look quite wearable and even took it to dinner sans the crown (trust me I would have kept it on but priorities like a pounding headache came first). Now, if someone could just point me in the direction to acquire a dragon..

love story of layers

The best thing about unforgiving, cold weather is that it allows you to pile on layers without feeling like you have way too many on. And who can forget that strategic layering is the key to hiding extra winter cellulite? For one, an airy dress over a turtleneck knit is the easiest way to rock girly garb in winter, and if you’re like me and prefer to go sans pants but still want to keep warm, then over-the-knee and thigh-high boots are your best options. Throw or wrap a wool scarf over and nail the finished look with a coat in a neutral color (camel tones never let anybody down).
